Live Longer and Healthier

There is more politics in medicine then politics.


What we do on a daily basis is crucial to long term health.  The true currencies of life are food, air, water and movement. Food is natures real medicine. Food gives us energy, stamina, better cognition, resilience and function. Breath is life force. Hydration strategy is to intake water (from water, plants & fruits) and with natural movement our body distribute to all parts.   We need negative charges from the earth, in addition, rays of sunlight to optimize health.  All disease is preventable. So let’s live longer and healthier! Minimize toxins, maximize nature’s nutrients!


There is mass proof: People who live in the “Blue Zones” live healthy and naturally to 120. On the other hand, the US with its SAD (Standard American Diet), has caused 75% of Americans to be overweight. Being overweight IS inflammation which is the symptom of disease (heart disease, diabetes, cancer) the root cause of death are usually just diet and lifestyle habits. So let’s just take charge of our health in implementing fundamental areas of health. Let’s upgrade and make better choices!


Here are some adjustments my family and I have made to our Diets recently:

Added more hearty “cruciferous” and root vegetables

Make sure our dish is always vibrantly colorful!

Upgraded to mushroom coffee

Upgraded to the “Top” herbal supplements

Added more legumes and nuts

Added cold pressed organic olive oils

Drink miso soup everyday with seasonal vegetables

Consciously drink more green tea, eat more natto and seaweed

Consciously add more ginger, or daikon or turmeric to our meals

Consciously drink more types of herbal teas

Added more fermented or pickled (in vinegar) veggies

Added more prebiotics like mushrooms, garlic and onion

Eat less rice, noodles and pastas

Eat less meats, added more fish (and if meat - grassfed & organic)

Less to let’s just say no milk

Walks in the park

Learned how to inhale and exhale!

Laughter

Learned meditation, qi gong and yoga


Of course, it didn’t happen over nite, but as we learned what was healthIER we kept upgrading - and voila - my dad is in remission from cancer and he is off his medications.


Let’s implement concepts from the 5,000 year old Five Elements Philosophy of Balanced Wisdom. Balancing all Five Elements; Wood (Detox pathways), Fire (Cardiovascular system), Earth (Digestive system), Metal (Respiratory system) and Water (Endocrine/hormonal system.). Let’s start by feeding our digestive system prebiotics, probiotics and good yummy fibrous veggies which flourish our microbiome (gut environment) - key to health. Happy tummy, happy brain, happy heart!


I know there are lot of “diets” out there but I respect history. My goto living longer and healthier concepts are from the Five Elements Philosophy - prevention, wellness and longevity, in addition, to what people in the Blue Zones implement like eating 80% whole plant foods, moving more, having a sense of purpose and being involved with community. Oh, I especially like that drinking red wine 🍷 is one one of them too!
