The breath is one of the most powerful tools we have to bring stress under control.

The Center for Disease Control reports that stress is the leading factor in five out of six leading causes of death.
The brain is primarily about safety, so if it does not feel safe it will go into stress response and breathing will become shallow. Be aware of this so that you can regulate your breathing and release whatever stress you may have. The key is to create inner harmony and balance.
