The Five Elements Philosophy is based on thousands of years of Balanced Wisdom for wellness and longevity.  It starts with the basic idea that everything is interconnected:  the natural elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) and our wellbeing.  Seasons can affect our organs, which can affect our senses and even our emotion or visa versa.  We are in a state of health when the elements are balanced. As life occurrences constantly throw us off balance, our job is to identify which element is out of balanced and bring it back to balanced.

In this philosophy, prevention and balance is key.  For example, supporting our Metal Element associated with Autumn (Lungs), prepare us for the Winter season.  Strong Lungs help circulate Qi or life force and protect us from the external environment.    Fall is a season to let go - like how the trees let go of their leaves, a person with an imbalanced Metal Element might have issues letting go, sadness and depression can appear as symptoms.  The Winter season is associated with the Water element and Kidney | Bladder, or endocrine system.  The emotion of fear resides in the Kidneys, so extra support for the Kidneys, whether it is foods, herbs, movements, healing sounds, or a combo of all can bring the element Back to Balanced.  Signs of a healthy Water Element is energy and vitality.  To continue the cycle, supporting the Water Element during the Winter enables us to have energy and vitality for the new season Spring when the birds and bees flourish.  To balance our Wood Element one could consider a healthy detox, or cleansing our Liver as the Wood Element is associated with the liver, muscles, sinews, nails and eyes as well.  Signs of an imbalanced Wood Element may be tightness of muscles, pain in the body, weak or tired eyes, cravings for sour foods.  As the function of the Liver is to store, move and detoxify blood - bringing blood to the muscles and tendons.
